DIE ELEKTRISCHEN NEWS
What the fuck is going on with Die Elektrischen you ask? (so what if you didn't) Plenty, I say.
Expect a new Die Elektrischen release called Agares out in early 2008 on Belgian label Bone Structure. The release is part of the Psuedomonarchia Daemonium series, and is named after the demon of earthquakes (among other things). This is a single, 20 minute track that represents the most musically inclined DE release ever.
Also new is the Black Metal band Infinite Mass, with DE on vox, keys and arrangements, R Trubitt on guitars, bass and JS Clark on drums. The first Infinite Mass release is out now on Bone Structure and is a 3-way split with amazing ambient artist 88 and super-frightening noise act N.D.E.K. Needless to say this is a must-have CD, and it's limited to 100 copies only. Available from the label. Full-length to follow in 2009

Pineresin will take their bizarre setup on the road for the first time. Luckily for us, it's all good. We'll be encamping at the incredibly friendly confines of Robotspeak in San Francisco, where the people couldn't be any cooler and the venue couldn't be any more perfectly suited to our brand of electro-acoustic strangeness. Pineresin will be live processing and live sampling drums, vibes, marimba and whole lot of other stuff...
FIELD RECORDING ALL-STARS CD PARTY AT RML COMPOUND ON 2/3
OH YES! Dielectric has the privilege of celebrating the release of "RE:record" at the original Recombinant Media Labs Compound!
FIELD RECORDING ALL-STARS CD AVAILABLE
Two and a half years in the making, the Field Recording All-Stars, Dielectric's third installment of spontaneous improvisation (Drone All-Stars, Minimalist All-Stars) is complete for now.
This release differs from the others because it wasn't done by people in the same room, or even at the same time. Instead, the improv between artists occurred as a response to a treasure hunt for sounds. Artists were given a list, and the "found sounds" were then grouped by topic; songs were created out of the interaction between them. Some of the artists also submitted a finished composition that was created from field recordings. These pieces were interwoven with original compositions by Die Elektrischen to make up the final journey.

DIELECTRIC WELCOMES PINERESIN INTO FOLD
A new group called Pineresin been hatched into existence. The first project to emerge from The Lodge, Pineresin is a collaboration between Carson Day, Jesse Clark, and Die Elektrischen. Over the course of countless hours of development, Pineresin has melded Moog, turntables, percussion, marimba, computers, analog effects, digital effects, and natural objects into a cerebral ambient headspace that is both intensely analog and electronic sounding at the same time. Tons of streaming audio (from 4 separate sessions) is available at Jesse's website. A downloadable Pineresin record should be available here next week, and a CD release date will be announced soon.

CARSON DAY AND DIE ELEKTRISCHEN FORM PUSSYFINGER
The newly-formed electronic duo Pussyfinger debuts Aug 25th at The Luggage Store in San Francisco (show details available on the shows page). Composed of Carson Day and Die Elektrischen, PussyFinger melds field recordings, found sound, and circuit bent Furby dolls. Their set will include "Trane" a 15 minute meditation built on a field recording of the idling motor of a 50-year old Diesel locomotive. From there, the duo will explore the juxtaposition of choral music, laptop computers, processed live vocals and other other sources of questionable taste.
SOTE SHOW: A SHORT SHARP SHOCK
Sote played at Oliver Arts Center at CCA on Sunday the 19th of June. Sadly, this short set was his only US date this year. In those 30 minutes he managed to clearly demonstrate that his constantly evolving sonic vision is still years ahead of the competition -- combining more and more traditional Iranian sounds and influences while at the same time pushing the outer limits of expiremental electronic music through frequency purification and manipulation. Sote is one of the most vital performers in the world. If you haven't downloaded his new record yet, jump over to his artist page and do it now. It's free.
ARASTOO HANDMADE AND ULTRA-LIMITED CD IS NOW AVAILABLE
Another example of Dielectric's commitment to screwing the industry and creating a new paradigm for independent releases is the first of our cd-r series, "Warmth in Digital" from Arastoo. This magnificent record has been lovingly and painstakingly packaged in a vellum coverlet, sealed with wax and hand numbered out of 50 copies. Each completely unique package contains photos taken by Arastoo. Because of the extremely limited number available, ordering will be handled on an individual request basis. To order, send an email to the address at the lower right corner of the page. Cost is $17 postpaid for those in North America, and $19 for those in all other locations. Retail will be handled exclusively by Aquarius Records in North America, with foreign distribution still to be determined. Samples of most of the record are available on the Arastoo artist page.
CARSON DAY "EXPERIMENTAL SEAFOOD CASSETTE" FREE DOWNLOAD!
A free peak at an upcoming Experimental Seafood Records release (a split cassette with Die Elektrischen)... and also something to tide you over while Carson prepares his debut full length. Lovely sounds here, all composed on a circuit bent casio
sk-1 and electric mandolin. Click on the song titles for streaming mp3's or click on the download "button" for the full record.
EXCITING AND UNEXPLAINED CLEANING EVENTS...
is an original field recording made in a confined space with 10 individual microphones. Minimal editing and signal processing were applied to create the finished work. Recorded by Die Elektrischen and Rudy Trubitt with immeasurable help from Bruce Koball, "...cleaning events" will be presented as part of the 2005 San Francisco Tape Music Festival. The SFTMF is a three-day festival running from January 20-22. "...cleaning events" will be presented on Friday, January 21.
In December 2004, NASA engineers monitoring the Mars Rover "Opportunity" noticed a suprising increase in the power output from the planetary explorer's solar panels. The only explanation was something (or someone) had swept accumulated dust from the Rover. "These exciting and unexplained cleaning events have kept Opportunity in really great shape," the London-based New Scientist magazine quoted NASA rover team leader Jim Erickson as saying.

LOVE FOR THE MINIMALIST ALL-STARS
Some wonderful soul (Joel Callahan) who is NOT (we swear) on the Dielectric payroll, picked the Minimalist All-Stars for his best of 2004 list. We are ever so touched by his choice.
ARASTOO SONG SAMPLES ONLINE NOW
Samples from the upcoming "Warmth In Digital" CD-r are available on the Arastoo page. CD available soon.
SONAR 2004 REPORT
The festival was an unmitigated success, and it was fun as hell too. Can't beat that. Thanks so much to all the folks who came and checked out the Dielectric set. It was one of the most attentive audiences we've ever seen. Everywhere we went, we were treated to interesting art and music. Sonar also did a good job making sure all of the stages had high quality sound systems. It was a really well run festival.
As far as other bands at the show, Roots Manuva was our favorite. He had a great live band and both of his sets rocked. Pan Sonic didn't disappoint, but didn't deliver as much as we'd hoped, probably only due to unreasonable expectations on our end. The duo of Martin Hossbach and Christian Von Borries presented Masse und Macht, which we also enjoyed very much. Their "music made from other music" combined classical instruments with electronic processing to great effect. Richie Hawtin was cool, Beans was really good, and the Bulbes installation/performance was amazing. We also learned about a really fine label from Birmingham, England called Experimental Seafood. All of the releases we picked up from them are excellent.
Biggest surprise of the entire experience had to be the overall popularity of electronic music in Europe. There were huge crowds everywhere we went. Many thanks to everyone involved, and especially to Javier Blanquez (Go Magazine), Philip Sherburne and Vir Rousse.
DIELECTRIC MINIMALIST ALL-STARS READY TO SHIP
The most ambitious release yet in terms of concept, music and packaging design. A lovely vellum exterior wraps a 2CD set of improv sessions from Loren Chasse, Jason Levis and Die Elektrischen. A bonus disc of remixes also included with songs from Aemae, Gerritt, Carson Day, Chris Palmatier, Sonic Death Monkies and Arastoo.

2003
DIELECTRIC DRONE ALL-STARS DR. ONE AVAILABLE NOW!
The first release in a planned trilogy of improv records. The Drone All-Stars is a live drone session that has received some post-processing love from Die Elektrischen. This session features the significant talents of Karen Stackpole, Bill Noertker, Garth Klippert, Ben Hayes, Tony Cross. Also features live electric train played by Die Elektrischen.

MINTY FRESH VINYL ARRIVED FROM THE PRESSING PLANT!
The label is born. 12" releases from Sote, Karen Stackpole, Carson Day/Ilet Apt, and Die Elektrischen have arrived in their fabulous orange sleeves. Definitely unlikely to change the world, but hoping to at least make a few ripples in the pond, Dielectric is alive and screaming.
